Dualed Ambuzzador Blog Tour
Hello my lovelies!!!! Do you guys remember when I was chosen to be an Ambuzzador for Elsie Chapman's novel #Dualed, and I geeked out? Well today I even got to participate in the Ambuzzador blog tour!!!!!
If you haven't heard of Dualed then you've probably been hiding under a rock, but not to worry, I'm here to refresh your mind.
You or your Alt? Only one will survive. The city of Kersh is a safe haven, but the price of safety is high. Everyone has a genetic Alternate—a twin raised by another family—and citizens must prove their worth by eliminating their Alts before their twentieth birthday. Survival means advanced schooling, a good job, marriage—life. Fifteen-year-old West Grayer has trained as a fighter, preparing for the day when her assignment arrives and she will have one month to hunt down and kill her Alt. But then a tragic misstep shakes West’s confidence. Stricken with grief and guilt, she’s no longer certain that she’s the best version of herself, the version worthy of a future. If she is to have any chance of winning, she must stop running not only from her Alt, but also from love . . . though both have the power to destroy her. Elsie Chapman's suspenseful YA debut weaves unexpected romance into a novel full of fast-paced action and thought-provoking philosophy. When the story ends, discussions will begin about this future society where every adult is a murderer and every child knows there is another out there who just might be better
Now that you've refreshed your mind, and were completely mesmerized by that book trailer. Hear how Elsie came up with the Idea, and what she would bring if she was stranded on an island.
Interview
- I love the idea of
everyone having a Alt , and only one surviving, it’s a very unique
concept!!! How did you come up with this idea/world?
Hi Crystal! The idea started to take shape when my son asked
me about the possibility of everyone having a double and simply not knowing
about them.
- What is your favorite part
about being a writer? Do you have a memorable fan moment?
It’s so hard to pick just one favourite thing. My world has
really expanded with writing—not only getting to meet so many amazing and
talented people, but on a personal level, too. It’s incredibly cool to see your
name on a book in the bookstore.
In terms of fans, I’m always so humbled to hear from someone
after they’ve read my book and loved it enough to let me know. I’ve gotten some
DUALED-theme gifts, and it means a lot. Also, since I’m not really vocal about
being an author when I first meet people, it’s really nice when they eventually
find out and make a point of picking it up to read.
- If you were stranded on a
deserted Island and could only bring five items what would they be?
I’m assuming I can’t bring people because of the word items,
but you didn’t mention anything about electricity, so: 1) my laptop complete
with charger, hi-speed wifi, and iTunes library 2) my headphones 3)
self-replenishing belt sushi 4) bottomless iced coffee and 5) toilet paper
You have only 140 character’s (twitter) to explain the
premise of your book to readers, what would you say? Go!
The gated city of Kersh means safety and a future. The price
of living there? Having to defeat your biggest enemy—yourself.
I grew up in Prince George, BC, before graduating from the University of British Columbia with a BA in English Literature. I currently live in Vancouver with my husband and two kids, where I write to either movies on a loop or music turned up way too loud (and sometimes both at the same time).. Find me on Tumblr, Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest. I’m also a contributing member of Friday the Thirteeners and The Lucky 13s group author blogs.

Nice interview and I love that her inspiration came from her son's question.
ReplyDeleteID approach but maybe not take down my alt. I won't be weak but strong to survive! ~Pati
ReplyDeleteI'd approach with shaking knees and fear that I'll be killed because I won't be able to take my Alt on.
ReplyDeleteHA! Very carefully for sure. I think I would definitely be out for the kill right away. I would train in stealth for sure!
ReplyDeleteHmm. Not sure how I'd approach my Alt. I'm not really a them or me kind of person. I'll usually go out of my way to make sure someone else is okay before I worry about myself. So I really have no idea what I'd do. I guess I'd have to decide quickly if I was in that situation! Thanks for the giveaway Crystal!!
ReplyDeleteJesse @ Pretty In Fiction
I would approach very quietly from behind.
ReplyDeleteKnowing me, my Alt and I would either kill each other or get accidentally killed somehow, thus defeating the point of the program.
ReplyDeleteLove all her answers. Makes me like her even more and I already adore dualed!
ReplyDeleteI would probably approach my Alt with caution! They're dangerous, after all!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaway (:
Great interview. I haven't started this book yet but can't wait until i do :)
ReplyDeleteI'd sneak up on my Alt so I'd have a better chance at beating her.
ReplyDeleteI think my Alt is probably living inside of me. So I'd probably have to kill myself o.O
