I just finished Of Poseidon and loved it, so I hoped the second book is to my liking. I had a lot of faith in Of Triton and I hoped it wouldn’t let me down!

Since this is a review for Of Triton, the second book, this review will be have some spoilers for the first one. Of Triton picks up where Of Poseidon left off. If you remember Galen had just made the discovery that Emma’s mother is the long-lost Poseidon princess, and then it just ends. Well, in Of Triton the conflict is resolved, and Nalia comes to take her rightful place as princess but it’s not so easy. Her reappearance basically causes a war, one where their laws will be tested and friendships questioned.

What I liked about Of Triton was how it jumped right into the action. From the very beginning, like literally the first page we have action and it doesn’t end there, it continues well into the book.

I’m also a huge fan of most of the characters. I love that we got to see more of Nalia (Emma’s mom) because I liked certain elements about her now that I didn’t get to see before. She is feisty and can hold her own; she is kind of like Rayna in that sense. I liked Grom and his interaction with Nalia, for the most part. I still love my Rayna and Toraf; I think they are my favorite couple. She is so “forward” I mean she opens her mouth and just says whatever comes to mind, she has no sensor and I love her for that. Toraf is my comedian throughout the entire book. Even though he doesn’t get a lot of page time, when he is in a scene humor is always there. Rachel (Galen’s Assistant) got a lot more page time this go around and she is one bad ass firecracker. I mean she is ex-mob lady in heels, can’t get any better than that.

I also loved the more in depth history on the Syrena people. We learned more about the bloodlines, the gifts of both Triton and Poseidon, and about Half-breeds. This entire History lesson to me was intriguing and very informative. It painted a vivid picture of the Syrena past and what the future holds for Emma. She holds the gift of Poseidon, but she is a half-breed and if history were to repeat it’s self than it’s not in her favor. Plus as a Half-breed Where does she really belong. He’s not fully human, but not a Syrena, and that tough to deal with.

There are a couple things I didn’t like. One was the length and the alternate POV’s. Whereas I loved it in the first book I didn’t enjoy it as much this time around. I felt like I was missing some major part of the story. The major conflict conclusion at the end was hard to take in, and I wasn’t a fan of the outcome.

Overall, Of Triton was a good follow up to Of Poseidon. It wasn’t completely up to the standard I set in my head but it also did not let me down. It’s something about that second book that just isn’t as great as its predecessor. Anna Banks continued to give me the elements I loved in OP, like the sass, and humor.

OF Triton is a beautifully told story with eternal creatures that we’ve seen time and time ago, but it has its own spin, and stands out against the rest. I recommend OT to all OP fans and to all of enjoy as healthy dose of humor, romance, and action in every book!
