Q:What is a deal breaker for you in a book? For example, do you abhor love triangles? Or can’t deal with bad editing?

A: LOVE Triangles!!! I  can't stand them.Normally there're predictable.Like one  character is just not the right choice and you know they won't be picked in the end. Plus I don't see love triangles as "love" or like a choice.I see it as added drama that I can't stand.

I could be loving a story ,but when the author throws that third person in I'm like

  1. It takes a lot for me to quite reading a book. I've only quite 3 or 4 books in my reading lifetime. I'm a new follower via GFC and would love for you to visit me when you can...

  2. Same sentiments about love triangles, although I've built up a grudging tolerance for them. But I still won't read any YA novel with a love triangle (except for The Infernal Devices).

  3. I also really hate when love triangles have really predictable endings... but some CAN be done well. I know I'm biting my nails to find out who Tessa finally ends up with in Clockwork Princess!

  4. I don't mind triangles, but I totally get how they can be cheesy and/or cliche. They need to be done well or they get way annoying. :D Old follower. My FFs are at Musings on Fantasia and LKHill. Happy Friday! :D

  6. Yeah love triangles can get annoying. Sometimes it feels like they are there simply to be there. Really bad love triangles like that make the book a little less enjoyable.

  7. Hi, I am a new follower. I don't like love triangles when the only purpose is to have a love triangle. You are right about being able to predict the outcome way too easily. I do, however, like them when they add another layer of conflict. I especially like them in a mystery/suspense.

  10. Love triangle is a popular answer this week! I personally don't really mind them, as long they're done right. I agree about some of them being predictable, though.

    Have a great weekend!

  12. They don't bother me that much unless the person refuses to ever choose and that's the basis of the story.

  14. I know what you mean. While I've really enjoyed SOME love-triangles I feel they're WAY too overdone lately, especially in ya. And to be honest, I'm not the kind of girl who'd fantasize about being in an actual love-triangle to start with! I always know right away which boy I'd choose, and then I get mad at the MC for not making up her mind! LOL. Anyways great answer & thanks for sharing. Here's my FFF this week

  15. Yes! They are just more drama. I mean, occasionally they can be well written and actually contribute to the character growth and story line, but usually that's not the case. And even in the well written ones I still can't stand them. Take Cassandra Clare's The Infernal Devices series for instance. It feels like nails on a chalkboard to me whenever Jem and Tessa are in a scene together. I like Jem, but it's so obvious that he's the odd man out in that triangle. It's annoying to read at times.

  16. I agree. Love triangles are cliche and generally predictable. They're not exactly a deal-breaker for me, but I want to feel like a love triangle is necessary to a plot and not just introduced as romantic tension filler. (And they usually are filler).
