I’ve lost it. :( The only thing in the world I wasn’t supposed to lose. My engagement ring. It’s been in Magnus’s family for three generations. And now the very same day his parents are coming, I’ve lost it. The very same day! Do not hyperventilate, Poppy. Stay positive :) !! Poppy Wyatt has never felt luckier. She is about to marry her ideal man, Magnus Tavish, but in one afternoon her “happily ever after” begins to fall apart. Not only has she lost her engagement ring in a hotel fire drill but in the panic that follows, her phone is stolen. As she paces shakily around the lobby, she spots an abandoned phone in a trash can. Finders keepers! Now she can leave a number for the hotel to contact her when they find her ring. Perfect! Well, perfect except that the phone’s owner, businessman Sam Roxton, doesn’t agree. He wants his phone back and doesn’t appreciate Poppy reading his messages and wading into his personal life. What ensues is a hilarious and unpredictable turn of events as Poppy and Sam increasingly upend each other’s lives through emails and text messages. As Poppy juggles wedding preparations, mysterious phone calls, and hiding her left hand from Magnus and his parents . . . she soon realizes that she is in for the biggest surprise of her life.

 First thoughts
I like Sophie Kinsella enough to read this book. So I gave it a try.

My thoughts
I found this book to be a delightfully fun read. I love the whole idea of poppy finding a phone in the trash bin, and using it as hers. The one reason I love Sophia Kinsella’s books are because they are pure fun and enjoyable the entire way through.

Poppy is such I amusing character. She is always happy and carefree. She really has no reason to not be happy. She has great friends, a handsome fiancé, and a pretty good career. But things suddenly start to go downhill when she losing her engagement ring that has been in her fiancé Marcus’s family for generation. After that the bad times keep rolling her phone is stolen and now the police can’t contact her if they find her ring. That is until she finds a phone in the trash, and then the story gets interesting.  She thinks she has everything under control until the owner call and wants the phone back. Sam Roxton is the owner and it was my favorite character. He might seem rude and unfriendly at first but as the story progresses I liked him more and more.

Sam and Poppy are so different yet fit well together. She wants to please everyone and cares what everyone thinks or her while Sam doesn’t try to please anyone but himself, and doesn’t care what anyone thinks. The one thing I hated about poppy was that she didn’t stick up for herself. She lets her fiancé and his parents put her down over and over and just bit her tongue. She also was so nosey, big turn off for me.

The story was so free, and funny, and that’s what I like about Sophie Kinsella’s book! The whole chick lit feel LOL . I loved the situations they got into and the way they got themselves out. Also the banter and conversations they are through phone conversations, emails, and text are super cute, and very entertaining.
I didn’t like any of the supporting characters. Her friends to me were not good friends at all. I found myself telling poppy a lot to tell them off. I didn’t like Marcus (fiancé) or his parents.  But I guess they are the “Villains” and I’m not really supposed to like them, right? Luckily I loved Poppy and Sam enough to still love the book.

Last thing I didn’t like were the footnotes. Thought they were a waste and half the time didn’t even read them.

Even with the negatives I still enjoyed this book. It’s a book that doesn’t surprise you; you already know how it will end. It’s cute, and fluffy, and will keep you laughing until the end.  And you have to love the way their relationships comes about, I mean authors are coming up with new, cute ways to make people fall in love.

  1. I love Sophie Kinsella books! I read this at the beginning of the year and it didn't disappoint. She has such an easy writing style that I always finish her books quickly and enjoy them immensely.
The footnotes didn't bother me as I was reading it on my kindle, but if I would have read it in paperback I think it would have irritated me.
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed this one. =)

  2. I haven't read any of her books, because most of them, aren't really my cup of tea. I'm still wondering if I should try one when I'm busy; easy and fluffy might be appropriate to take my mind of the heave stuff. Thanks for the honest review and I'm going to put this one on the list to check it out :)
