draped his coffin and his final wishes: to move to his hometown, take over the
family bookstore and enjoy a simple, quiet life with their two small children.
When she arrives, her husband's best friend makes that new life anything but
simple. How can she be so drawn to Liam Addison?
Liam
only intended to help Alicia get settled. But one unexpected kiss awakens his
long-held forbidden feelings. Soon, the town busybodies swoop in to warn Alicia
away from him. Because no matter the man he's become, he'll never live down his
reputation as town troublemaker and wolfish womanizer.
No
one wants the war hero's sweet widow and the supposedly former bad boy
together. But the more everyone tries to keep them apart, the closer he and
Alicia get. And the more determined Liam is to prove he's a changed man. Will
it be enough to convince Alicia to let a new love in her life?
My
thoughts
I really enjoyed this book!!! Alicia the
recently widowed mother of two, moves back to her husband Ty’s home town to
take over his ailing father’s bookstore, and to raise her kids in her husband’s
childhood home. But once there everything is not smooth sailing. She meets the
resident “bad boy” Liam(Ty’s old childhood best friend) who she starts having
feeling for, but nothing can development because the town feels he’s unworthy
and will just break her heart.
What first pulled me to this story was, that
I’m a sucker for romance, and I always love the misunderstood “bad boy” that
everyone thinks is up to no good. What kept me pulled in were ALL the characters.
First, we have Alicia who I feel was a strong character throughout the entire
book. I mean she had heartache on top of heartache, yet she still managed to pull
herself from the ground over and over again. Next, we have Liam whom I loved! He
had the WHOLE town against him yet he just laughed it off and continues to be
there for Alicia. Then we have Alicia’s new friends Penny and Lulu, whom are
both very outspoken on all situations pertaining to Alicia’s life. Throw in
Alicia’s adorable kids, a town gossip, a secret that could potentially be fatal
to their “growing” relationship and you have one heck of a romance novel.
Liam and Alicia both tried so hard to not
be attracted to one another, but in the end the heart wants what the heart
hearts, and who are we to deny that?
Overall “Where the heart lies” was a pretty
enjoyable read. It was sad in some parts and frustrating at times because I
just wanted the town and EVERYONE else to let them decide what was best. The only thing I would have wanted to make it better
would be an epilogue. But that’s just me because I hate for my stories to end L
I
give it 4.5 stars!
